Good Readers....

Isn't it wonderful when a student is reading independently and rushes over to you to announce that he has "made a connection" and continues on to describe how his reading related to something that happened in his life. What about when a youngster make a complicated inference and proudly boasts that he did so? It just makes my heart smile. It is inspiring when our students have learned what great readers do, and are proud to announce that they are one!

As the school year is near completion, I look over at the students pre and post reading levels and feel great accomplishment, yet fear rushes over me. What if they don't read this summer? What if they forget to utilize some of the strategies that were taught. So, I decided to create a bookmark that I hope the students will refer to when diving into their summer reading. I hope you find it helpful.
