I recently took a vocabulary class with several of my teaching "sisters". We were asked to present a lesson for the instructor to observe in our classrooms. Oh my... Was I nervous! Isn't funny how after years of teaching, I still get the jitters when being observed. Does that happen to you all?
Anyway, I chose to teach an antonym diamante poem. I remember as a child dreading poetry and was nervous about how the kiddos would respond to a diamante poem since there are several steps. They completely amazed me and were so thrilled to show me their work! I am definitely going to do this again next year.
When preparing the lesson I found a great interactive tool from Read Write Think and the kids just loved it. I also made a printable or poster that can be slipped under a doc camera or put into the interactive white board. Help yourself to this download.
