Wow! Where has the weekend gone? As I am thinking about the upcoming school week it hits me...there are only a few more weeks until summer break. Then my mind buzzes over all of the areas that I would like to reinforce and review with my students prior to them going on. That lead me to thinking about their math fact mastery.
As we all know mastering the basic math facts is critical in the primary grades and keeping the students interested in practicing them is challenging don't you think? Several years ago, I took an amazing primary math fact game course with my school district. It was taught by Laurie Delikat. Anyway, one of the games that she introduced was "Plus or Minus" in which the students roll number cubes (being careful not to call them dice to be politically correct lol). They create an addition or subtraction number sentence, state it and solve it. Then they place a marker on their sum or difference. The first person to cover their board wins.
My kiddos seem to really enjoy this game. I have a board for each student in the class. Also, paper clips make great markers. Click on the images to download your freebie. I would love any feedback that you have. Thanks....and have an amazing week.
