Thankful after hit and run car accident!

Hello Everyone!
How did you all make out on your Black Friday shopping? This is the first year that I didn't venture out. The day before thanksgiving my daughter was in an accident. I am so thankful that she was not seriously hurt; however, I can't say the same thing for my new Kia Soul. Now, I'm going to have to come up with the $1,000.00 deductible. What makes matters worse is that the driver who caused the accident left the scene and when he was identified it was determined that he had a revoked driver's license and of course he had no insurance! With six kiddos and Christmas coming all I can say is Ugh!!!!

To take my mind off of things...what does one do? Well, she creates items for TpT and TN of course :)
This weekend I am having a 25% off sale at Teachers Notebook. Plus, they have an additional 10% off!
You can find these items in my shop along with a ton of Common Core "I can" Statements. Simply click on the pictures to be directed to the items.

Oh no, I hope she heals mentally as well! That stinks that people think it's okay to drive without a license and insurance.

Hope that your sale is amazing and helps provide some good times for your family!

I know that it’s been a month since you posted this, but I just have to ask how your daughter’s doing after the accident. Hit and run’s are a big deal, no matter how big or small the damage was. Have you decided to take legal action? Anyway, I’m happy that she’s safe. Keep smiling! Merry Christmas!

Thanks so much Javier for asking. She has had some pain, but is doing well. The damages were over $3,000. We don't have the funds for the deductible. We are going to further investigate what recourse we have and if there were any criminal actions taken against the driver or if we have to file charges. Since winter break is upon us, we are going to try to get all of this taken care of. I am sure that it will all work out in the end. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well.
Hugs,
Laura

Oh, I’m sorry to hear this, but I’m glad your daughter is doing good right now, Laura! I like the attitude you put in this kind of situation. A positive mentality really makes any circumstance lighter. :] Anyway, did you consider pursuing a legal claim?

You are very kind Mike! I am not sure about a legal claim. I think my insurance company may be handling this for me.

Yes, Laura, do that. You’ve suffered enough emotional discomfort to be handling the legal claim yourself. Just ask to be notified by your insurance company periodically. Plus, asserting claims can get stressful since not each and every demand can be addressed. Fretting about it will cause you more harm than good. I hope she’s recovering well. :]

Sad story! Why did you not file a lawsuit? You can still charge him even if he had revoked driver's license. He should be responsible for what happened to your daughter. By the way, how's your daughter now? I hope that she was able to move on from that accident, Laura. Take care!
